What is Pokemon Ruby?

Pokemon Ruby is a role-playing video game developed by Gamefreak and serves as the third entry in the Pokemon series. Released for the Game Boy Advance, this installment introduces players to the Hoenn region, where they assume the role of a trainer aligned with Team Magma. The primary objective? To subdue the legendary Pokemon Groudon. As a counterpart, Pokemon Sapphire presents an alternative perspective, with players participating in Team Aqua's adventures.

Rules

  1. Team Magma's Perspective: Unlike previous Pokemon games where players traditionally assume the role of a Pokemon Trainer, Pokemon Ruby offers a unique twist. Trainers become part of Team Magma, a villainous team with ambitions to expand the landmass by controlling legendary Pokemon Groudon.

  2. Team Aqua in Pokemon Sapphire: In the sister version, Pokemon Sapphire, players align with Team Aqua, whose goal is to awaken and control the legendary Pokemon Kyogre. This dynamic storytelling adds depth to the Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire experience.

Features

  • New Pokemon: Pokemon Ruby introduces 150 new Pokemon species to the Pokemon universe, expanding the roster of available creatures and offering a fresh set of challenges for trainers to capture and train.

  • Double Battle System: One of the most significant additions to Pokemon Ruby is the Double Battle system. Trainers can summon two Pokemon simultaneously on each side, adding a layer of strategy and complexity to battles. This feature encourages players to think strategically about type advantages and team composition.

  • Removal of Day/Night Cycle: While the Day/Night cycle is absent in Pokemon Ruby, the game compensates with a plethora of exciting features. Trainers can explore secret bases, engage in Pokemon Contests, and experience a diverse range of in-game activities.

  • Secret Bases: Pokemon Ruby introduces Secret Bases, customizable hideouts where trainers can decorate and set up battle challenges. These bases foster a sense of personalization and creativity, allowing players to express their unique style within the game.

  • Pokemon Contests: In lieu of the Day/Night cycle, Pokemon Ruby introduces Pokemon Contests, where trainers showcase their Pokemon's beauty, coolness, cuteness, smartness, and toughness. These contests add a new dimension to the gameplay, allowing trainers to compete in a different arena outside of traditional battles.
